XS Project

Happy Friday y'all!

Have any of you ever been to a third world country? What do you usually think of when you hear "third world country"? What pops in my head when I hear those words is dirty and poor. I'm so fortunate to live in America and to have the kind of lifestyle that I do (with or without deals) and sometimes I get so distracted by all the stuff around me that I rarely take the time out to think of those who are less fortunate. I would like to share with you a project that I'm currently involved in: XS Project. There is a large community in third world countries who would earn a living by collecting and reselling trash to support themselves and their families! Isn't that so sad? To make a living by going through people's trash? Well, XS uses art to create new uses for waste to not only reduce the amount of garbage burned or buried in landfills but also to create jobs and stimulate the local economy to combat poverty!

I remember making these art projects when I was in high school. We would collect candy wrappers and make purses or dresses out of it. It was so neat and fun (but took hella days to make!) and now to see it become something marketable while helping out those in need is just incredible. It's amazing what you can do with your talents and where you can take your passions to.

We depend on donations to make sure we can provide scholarships to children of trashpicker families and jobs to the trashpicker communities each month. SO from today until May 20th, through GlobalGiving's Recurring Donation Campaign, you can have a chance to make that difference! Please sign up to be a donor and if you're able, you can even click on the "monthly recurring" option below the large orange DONATE button. Whee!

As much as I love deals and free things, I also think it's important to give. What if we all keep on receiving but never give back? What would this world be? Think about all the money you can save or have already saved from the deals I've sent to you :) Will you donate that to help the poor sustain their lives? Think about it.
