This year for Mother's Day I gave my mom a portrait session with my famous International Photographer friend, Junshien. My dear mother LOVES to take pictures. She and her girlfriends would color-coordinate and go to church with matching outfits so they can take pictures after service at the favorite spot (the tree, because it's shaded, because Asians are scared of the sun). The pictures would instantly be up on facebook that very same day. It's crazy! My mother originally wanted to take her girlfriends with her to the portrait session, but decided last minute to take my dad instead. Which was probably a good thing for Junshien :) My parents had a lot of fun at the photo session! Uh-oh. And Junshien seemed to have a good time as well! He text me after the session to tell me how cute and how much he loves my parents. Double uh-oh.

I was at D&B with some friends this past Saturday and it was soooooo much fun! Maybe it was because I haven't been there in a while, maybe because I didn't have to pay for any of the games (always helps), or maybe it was the excitement seeing my friend drink his first beer after a 40 day fast. Good Friday

Earth Day is today, April 22nd. I'm reminded each year because there are so many deals on this day! :) Not only that a friend of mine always comes by my office to give me a plant. (Thanks?) But, I'm proud to announce that the plant he got me last year is still alive! This year's plant looks a bit plastic though but he assured me that this live plant is easier to take care of than the first one. So, we'll see!!

Anyway, I think it's good to observe this day and be aware and to learn to appreciate the Earth and its natural environment. But today is also Good Friday, the day Jesus died on the cross to forgive us from sin. Take some time today to consider the sacrifice Jesus made for us by praying and remembering his unconditional love. When I pause and reflect on this, I'm reminded of just how much God's love for me is! It's abundant and have been amazing! And, the good news to his death on the cross is that Sunday is just around the corner! He has risen! And because He lives we have a reason for tomorrow. Because He lives all fear is gone!

He made the One who did not know sin to be sin for us, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him. (2 Corinthians 5:21)

Google is taking over da world, man.

Today Google just announced Google Offers. Another groupon-like service that will be offering local deals to select cities including SF, Oakland/East Bay. They claim to offer deals at 50% off or more! I'm looking forward to it!

Another groupon-like website that you should subscribe to is MyTownDeal which offer deals families living in silicon valley. Some of the deals are for robotics class for kids, akido classes, music/ art classes (you know...all the nerdy stuff) PERFECT for families living in the silicon valley. They also have deals to local restaurants and events. What's really great about MyTownDeal is that they will donate 5% of your purchase to a nonprofit of your choice. Colorado Whitewater Rafting Trip

I LOVE whitewater rafting. It's so much fun! The first time I went was during the summer. So the water was really calm and it was really peaceful and relaxing. I went with a bunch of church friends and our pastor flipped over because we kept on splashing water at him and he lost his balance. It was really funny (but sad at the same time hehe). The second time I went was during the late winter. It was raining really hard and the water was so rough that our boat flipped over! I was able to hang on to a branch and swam to the nearest boat but some friends wasn't able to and the current was taking them further and further away. It was scary but definitely memorable!! Thank God another boat was able to catch up and rescue them! It felt so good to be alive! Then, the last time I went rafting was when I was in Bali a couple of years ago. We went on a cheapo tour and so it was expected to be shady but I didn't realize to what extent until we actually got there. Our boat had a huge hole and the guide literally took a duck tape and taped over it...right in front of our eyes!! He was kinda a perv too. The water was not white/ clear/ clean but the rapid was surprisingly awesome in Bali!!

So, what's the point of the stories? haha I just saw this deal for 2 nights at the Three Rivers Resort on the Gunnison River (in CO!) for $200 PLUS a whitewater raft trip included for FREE. Basically 2 night lodging and whitewater rafting trip for $200 for 2 people. That means $100 per person for 2 nights lodging and whitewater rafting!! Aaahh, that's such a good deal! Who wants to go?? So this one time- my friend whom I'll just refer to as Nutty came to visit me while I was living in Shanghai. And boy was she nutty! But of course thats what I expected and so it was ok. We traveled with another friend "Frisky" to Beijing and was carted around by Nutty's uncle's company driver. We went to the Great Wall where we climbed THOUSANDS of stairs, yelled in the Forbidden Palace, and debated for HOURS while walking around the whole of the Olympic grounds. Boy was that a nutty experience but one that I would never forget. =D

Free Burnt Almond cupcake at Peters' Bakery

This is the BEST burnt almond cake I've ever tasted in my life. No joke. I've tried other burnt almond cakes but Peters' is still the best. I've had it 4x this year alone! I guess that's what happened when the last time you ever dribbled a basketball was when you were in 6th grade! In case some of you have not heard of Jeremy Lin (um, where have you been?!), he’s a local guy who used to play basketball at Harvard before signing with the Warriors, and is one of the few Asian Americans in the NBA. Also a cool fact about him is that he attends the same church as my friends and we used to volunteer at the same non-profit organization in East Palo Alto! I feel a connection.

This is not really a deal but a support event (similar to LOVE Japan). My friend just told me about Jeremy Lin's basketball academy. For those of you with school-age boys or know any school-age boys, you can send them to JLin's basketball camp this summer! What, no camp for adults? He will also be at a sports memorabilia store in San Mateo the last Saturday of the month, 4/30 from 3-5pm to sign autographs.

LOVE Japan Silent Auction

 The event that happened in Japan last month is heartbreaking. In addition to the rising death tool and thousands missing, there are still many who are seeking daily love. What can we do to help? My friends at New Vision Church in Milpitas will be holding a "LOVE Japan" Silent Auction on April 23rd from 5-8pm. The auction will showcase products and services donated by local business such as photography session packages, wedding coordination packages, delicious cupcakes, music lessons, electronic products, tickets to sport events, and many more! The goal of the auction is to raise $5K for Samaritan's Purse relief efforts, who have a team in Sendai, Japan supplying daily necessities to the locals living at that location. We can show love to the Japanese people by helping New Vision and Samaritan's Purse reach this goal.

Admission for the LOVE Japan Silent Auction is free and open to the public. MOGO will also be there to serve dinner. I rarely watch TV. I think it all started with not having TV in college...I must have gotten used to not watching any TV. The only TV show that I occasionally watch now is America's Next Top Model and Gossip Girl (Don't judge me! haha) But even that I have not been keeping up with it. I'm sooooo behind on Gossip Girl. What's going on between Blair and Dan? Did they hook up? How about Chuck? Omg, he's so hawt, I'm going to die! *Ahem* sorry for letting my 16 year old self out of the cage for a bit there.

One of my friend recommended the TV show "Undercover Boss" last year. I watched a couple of episodes and I thought it was a pretty cool show. Sometimes upper management just don't see what their employees are actually going through. The company's success is not due to the profit they are gaining but it is due to the hard working employees of the company. I think it's great that the CEO of the company would go "undercover" and see this first hand. Baja Fresh's CEO did exactly that and he is rewarding us with $2 Baja Bowl! Better get yours soon because the deal expires next Sunday 4/24. I think it's funny that on their website it said "get yours now before he changes his mind" then I see that he is Asian. Of course, something an Asian business would do...like a certain cafe shop in Cupertino who canceled their grand opening deal prematurely...

Are you an IP Man?

Ip Man is one of my all time favorite movies. I just love watching action-packed ass-kicking martial arts movie. Some of my favorite actors are Jet Li and Jackie Chan. Jackie Chan is hilarious, I love watching him with Chris Tucker in Rush Hour. And Jet Li, you just don't want to mess with him because first he is now a Singaporean citizen (haha) and second because he is "nobody's bitch!" (Romeo Must Die, 2000) (love that line lol you have to watch to understand) Imagine how stoked I was watching Forbidden Kingdom starring both Jackie Chan and Jet Li!! (Also another one of my favorite movie.)

Eniway, I digress, Amazon is offering a good deal on the IP Man collector's edition. IP Man 1 and 2 for only twenty dollaz ($20)! Ip Man is seriously a really good movie. I loved the 1st one and although the 2nd was just OK in comparison, both kicked ass! Definitely worth watching and this deal is too good to pass up!

So last month BR had a BOGO coupon for their ice creams. I (being the prepared-ice-cream loving-person that I am) had 4 handy coupons in my bag =) I saw a cute old couple and offered the coupon to them. Then, another man saw me and asked me if I had another coupon. So, I pulled it out of my bag and hand it to him. He was by himself but left the store with two ice creams!
