If you haven't heard, there's a nudist protest in SF this wkend. They're protesting against Supervisor Scott Wiener's campaign against public nudity. As if that's a bad thing?? Who would want to see naked people everywhere they go?! Well, unless you're into those stuff, I suggest you avoid Castro at all cost!!

Pinkberry BOGO

So last night I went on a movie date with my mommy! :) We saw Snow Flower and the Secret Fan. The book was SUPERB so I was pretty excited to watch the movie. We had 5 minutes before the movie start, but we still wanted to get Pinkberry first. We haven't even bought our ticket yet...but what the hey, it's Monday night, probably not going to be busy. Yes, this is how Asians reason with our time, hence we always end up being late, hence the well known term "Asian time".

Anywho, I only need 1 more stamp on my Pinkberry stamp card till my free yogurt so we decided to use it up. But the (awesome?) lady that helped us, charged us for 1 small yogurt (instead of 2) AND she gave me back my stamp card...which means I get another free one next time!!! Wahooo.

Actually, this have been happening to me a lot lately. I go to restaurants and the waiter/ owner doesn't charge me for my meal, or I walk out of the restaurant forgetting to pay for my meal and not being stopped for it, or getting something for free for no apparent reason....and it's been happening A LOT lately. I mean, I feel bad and I would often wonder...what is the right thing to do? Should I say something? But it's not my fault that they didn't charge me, right? All the times that this has happened to me, I never say anything and happily accepts. I dont think Jesus would do that tho...hmm...maybe I'll do something about it next time.

Summer FUN!

Summer is here! Better late than never! :)

Here are some ideas for you to do this summer. For FREE/ really cheap! Get out and enjoy the sun! and each other!

4) Go for a hike! One of my favorite activities! I like checking out new hiking trails and enjoy the beautiful nature.

5) Indoor activities. Endless. Watch a movie (you can rent from the library), play board games, play starcraft (YEAHHH!!!) or other online games, grub, learn to cook, sleep! Endless I tell you.

6) Outdoor activities. Some require money, but you can find free museum days in your area. Play a sport, attend free community workout class, watch the sun rise/ sun set, go to the beach, have a picnic, go to a farmer's market/ county fairs, volunteer!!

All fun activities. You just have to get out. Have a great and fun (and cheap!) summer!

Weekly Nutcrackers: Homemade SPA

I like to get my spa on from time to time. Life can get very busy sometimes so it's nice to just relax and pamper yourself, whether it's alone by yourself or with girlfriends; or either at the spa or at home.

One of my friend is a DIY enthusiast. From making blotting papers out of toilet seat covers (uh, yeah, don't ask me) to homemade spa treatments. We've tried the strawberry mask and body scrub a while back and it was fun...in a mysterious kind of way haha But we knew we were in good hands :)

One of my favorite things to do is shopping. LOL! Not denying it. And when I say shopping, I mean ALL DAY shopping. Making a day out of it type of shopping. A fun day walking around the city with my girlfriends type of shopping. It's serious business haha Our favorite spot to shop is union square and haight st. in SF. It's kinda far and we're not always free, so the shopping days have been very few this year. SAD.

Deal or no deal?

One of my best girlfriends love priceline. She comes and visit me about once a year and she would always check priceline to book her hotels, car rentals, and sometimes even her flights! Priceline gives you the best and lowest price, BUT what sets them apart is that you can make bids and name your own price for even cheaper. And what Asian doesn't love to bargain?? I personally enjoy bargaining for my purchases. I learned the art of bargaining from my Asian mother (of course) and have practiced it quiet a bit on my frequent travels to Asia. I've experienced calculators being thrown at me, store owners yelling and kicking me out of their stores, and all sort of things for being a crazy bargainer. But at the end of the day, when you get the price you want for the item you want...pure happiness.

If you are a true bargainer and like to name your own price for the items you purchase, you would totally dig this: Gap, the clothing store, is now allowing their customers to make deals with them! I played around with it the other day and almost secured a $5 for a $30 scarf deal!! Unfortunately I didn't like it that much (yes, even for $5) to accept this deal. I mean, why spend money, even if it is cheap, on something you don't really like? I like bargains and deals and all but I don't like to waste money. So, play around with it! Start low and work your way up. Gap will ask you if you can bid higher but if you don't think it's worth that much, then of course don't make the deal. There are only 15 items being dealed at a time so be sure to check often. Who knows one of the items might be something you really like!! Have fun!!

Speaking of brown people. I was at Fantasia last week. There was a long line and it went out the door. A group of brown people walked by and one of them said, "ooh, are they giving away free drinks?" LOL I laughed. It was really funny for him to say that! I had the pleasure of naturally shouting back and said, "No they're not giving away free drinks" I think he got embarrassed and walked away. I'm pretty simple when it comes to fashion accessories. Just my watch and stud earrings, *maybe* a ring or bracelet depending on my mood. But as we get older, we need to accessorize more! So I first heard about this from one of my friends. It's SO COOL. I don't think think I could do it though- live for one year off of Groupons alone. To earn or spend no money, forgo family and friends and not self-destruct or starve??? It's crazy! But this Groupawn (get it?) Josh Stevens did it for a year as part of a $100,000 challenge. It seems fun to have this sort of experience (I follow his blog) but I'm sure there are times where he must have felt lonely or even homesick.

Groupon is crazy man. They turned down a $6 billion offer from Google and have expanded like no other! Even overseas now! I have a friend in Indonesia who started a groupon-like website and his site got bought out by Groupon. I don't blame them for wanting to own all the deal sites and now my friend is a rich man! Groupon is just going to get bigger! Which is a good thing because I am such a groupon addict! They did a groupon reward system sometime ago and invited me to check it out. It was pretty cool to be one of the selected few to test out what is now called the groupon bucks! Not a day goes by without a story about Groupon in the news. They have even recently joined forces with Live Nation to offer discounted concert tickets services. GrouponLive is expected to launch in June!! I'm looking forward to that!

The goal now is to work for Groupon.

XS Project

Happy Friday y'all!

Have any of you ever been to a third world country? What do you usually think of when you hear "third world country"? What pops in my head when I hear those words is dirty and poor. I'm so fortunate to live in America and to have the kind of lifestyle that I do (with or without deals) and sometimes I get so distracted by all the stuff around me that I rarely take the time out to think of those who are less fortunate. I would like to share with you a project that I'm currently involved in: XS Project. There is a large community in third world countries who would earn a living by collecting and reselling trash to support themselves and their families! Isn't that so sad? To make a living by going through people's trash? Well, XS uses art to create new uses for waste to not only reduce the amount of garbage burned or buried in landfills but also to create jobs and stimulate the local economy to combat poverty!

I remember making these art projects when I was in high school. We would collect candy wrappers and make purses or dresses out of it. It was so neat and fun (but took hella days to make!) and now to see it become something marketable while helping out those in need is just incredible. It's amazing what you can do with your talents and where you can take your passions to.

We depend on donations to make sure we can provide scholarships to children of trashpicker families and jobs to the trashpicker communities each month. My mother originally wanted to take her girlfriends with her to the portrait session, but decided last minute to take my dad instead. Which was probably a good thing for Junshien :) My parents had a lot of fun at the photo session! Uh-oh. And Junshien seemed to have a good time as well! He text me after the session to tell me how cute and how much he loves my parents. Double uh-oh.

I was at D&B with some friends this past Saturday and it was soooooo much fun! Good Friday

Earth Day is today, April 22nd. I'm reminded each year because there are so many deals on this day! :) Not only that a friend of mine always comes by my office to give me a plant. (Thanks?) But, I'm proud to announce that the plant he got me last year is still alive! This year's plant looks a bit plastic though but he assured me that this live plant is easier to take care of than the first one. So, we'll see!!

Anyway, I think it's good to observe this day and be aware and to learn to appreciate the Earth and its natural environment. But today is also Good Friday, the day Jesus died on the cross to forgive us from sin. Take some time today to consider the sacrifice Jesus made for us by praying and remembering his unconditional love. When I pause and reflect on this, I'm reminded of just how much God's love for me is! It's abundant and have been amazing! And, the good news to his death on the cross is that Sunday is just around the corner! He has risen! And because He lives we have a reason for tomorrow. Because He lives all fear is gone!

He made the One who did not know sin to be sin for us, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him. (2 Corinthians 5:21)

Colorado Whitewater Rafting Trip

I LOVE whitewater rafting. It's so much fun! The first time I went was during the summer. So the water was really calm and it was really peaceful and relaxing. I went with a bunch of church friends and our pastor flipped over because we kept on splashing water at him and he lost his balance. It was really funny (but sad at the same time hehe). The second time I went was during the late winter. It was raining really hard and the water was so rough that our boat flipped over! I was able to hang on to a branch and swam to the nearest boat but some friends wasn't able to and the current was taking them further and further away. It was scary but definitely memorable!! Thank God another boat was able to catch up and rescue them! It felt so good to be alive! Then, the last time I went rafting was when I was in Bali a couple of years ago. We went on a cheapo tour and so it was expected to be shady but I didn't realize to what extent until we actually got there. Our boat had a huge hole and the guide literally took a duck tape and taped over it...right in front of our eyes!! He was kinda a perv too. The water was not white/ clear/ clean but the rapid was surprisingly awesome in Bali!!
